My "Bristol Palin" response

This whole thing sort of reminds me of Jamie Lynn Spears. Except it's the political version. Bristol Palin is only 18 and she had a baby, but it's good to know that she's responsible enough to have told her mother and it's good that everyone supports her.

My 'Have teenagers gone wild'? response

I found this article very helpful. I'm really glad that the rates of teenage pregnancy has gone down a little, but it's still very high. I can see how some teenagers might think that oral is better then the real thing because there is no risk in pregnancy, but there is a good chance that you could get an STD if you don't use protection. I think this article is very very true.

My 'My job is to be a mom' Response

There are clearly two sides of teenage pregnancy. There's the abortion and adoption that most teens consider. Then there are some like Iesha who have a relationship with her sons father, even though they are not dating or married. She is very lucky that she has a family that supports her. I think that it is very responsible of her to stay in school, get a job and be as good of a mother she can. I think it's unfortunate that she put herself in a decision that altered her life forever, but I am glad that she did the proactive thing.

- Lives with mother, son, and 4 siblings

- Still attends high school, is a senior

- lucky enough that school has a daycare

- usually doesn't see son until she gets out of work

- baby's daddy is active in sons life, which is very fortunate

- she is very lucky because she gets help and support from her family and ex boyfriend

- she doesn't get to do her homework until about 9:30 and gets up at 6 AM to give her son a bottle

- She says "I want to see myself succeed. "I want to be a role model for my son. As he gets older, I want him to say, 'Yeah, my mom struggled sometimes. She was told she couldn't do this or that because she had a child. Now she's graduated from college.' I want him to realize that there is always a way to achieve your goals"

-much of the money she earns she gives to her mother to pay for diapers, food, child care, and housing costs

- she thinks that "Anyone can give birth to a child. It takes a lot of love, courage, and patience to be a mom."

I found that this article was helpful because it makes a lot of sense that teens that drink are more likely to end up pregnant. It just goes to show you that one night of partying can lead to a lifetime of mistakes.

The whole scandal about Bristol Palin was definitely interesting, and put Sarah Palin in the middle of a scandal. Although seeing the star of Zoey 101 was shocking, at the same time, she's a Spears... Brittany's meltdown might have something to do with it.

I actually didn't find any of this information very helpful or exciting. Texas is one of the largest populated states in the United States, so obviously it's going to have one the highest birth rates. In the future, I guess I am going to have to try to find more interesting facts and better information.

My Response

I totally agree with this article. It's scary to think that so many more teens in the country are getting pregnant then a couple years ago, but I do also think that adults don't give us the credit we deserve. Yeah, we may be stupid sometimes, but not all of us are sex addicts. Sometimes adults need to give us the benefit of the doubt. This article shows that at least HALF of all teens have the common sense to stay a virgin in high school and that abstinence is key. This article was pretty helpful to me.

It looks like the citation is correct. But she did not use it as a tittle for her notes or response. Her essay is a different color from her response. The notes are the same color as the response. I don't like the topic.

Caitlyn - Good to see a second article! You need 4 done as of Friday, Dec. 19. Also, cite source of EACH article. Title each note section with the title of the article. Also - differentiate your colors so that the differences between your notes and responses are more evident.

I think that the amount of teenagers having unprotected sex is outrageous. I find it really interesting that studies show that if teens participate in sending racy messages that they will be more likely to actually participate in them. It doesn't really suprise me that the United States has one of the highest teenage pregnancy numbers in the nation.

-one in 5 teens send suggestive messages or pictures, and in doing so, they are more likely to engage in sexual activity


-41 out of 1000 teenagers are expected to be teenagers mothers in the next year

I think that the information that I found was very interesting. It was helpful to learn that the government is making young girls get contraceptive injections to prevent pregnancy. I think that if they do that, then young girls will get in the habit of having unprotected sex and think it is okay, and when they are a little older, they will end up pregnant anyway. So I don't necessarily think that the Government is helping.

Your blog was really good. You chose a good topic, and interesting one, one that has a lot of information and is happening a lot, unfortunately. In your essay, you chose the right words to say why you wanted to do teenage pregnancy. For getting research, and information on your topic, it should be very easy. You'll be able to find lots of information in just magazines, as well as online articles! I don't really know anybody who is pregnant at our age, so getting information from friends and anybody that you know, might be a little difficult. Just don't get any ideas from those celebrities from nickelodean! Seriously, I agree with that too, about how teenages could get the idea that it's cool to get pregnant if someone on there does.

Ashley! We have the same topic! It will be cool to see what we both come up with having the same topic. I agree that it will be some what challenging. I could not find a whole lot of information but I want to learn more about it. How do you get pictures on there?? Well it looks good. I think the pictures add more to it. I want to interview on a real pregnant teen or someone who has been pregnant at a young age. If I find any good websites I will let you know. I haven't had that great of luck yet..

There will be a lot of people to research. Because there are a lot of teens getting pregnant and not knowing what to do with it. There may a lot of web sites that will give a lot of information on how young people are having kids.

5 Paragraph Essay

I chose the topic teenage pregnancy for my I-Search paper. I find it really interesting how celebs such as Jamie Lynn Spears can give teens the wrong idea that it's okay to get pregnant at a young age I don't have personal experience or anything, I just thought that it would be a good topic because pregnancy is starting to become a common trend in teens and young adults. It seems like a really interesting topic that I am excited to learn more about.



My topic on teenage pregnancy is a current topic. In recent months many magazine articles and news stories revolved around how the seventeen year old actress Jamie Lynn Spears got pregnant and gave birth to a little girl. It is giving teen girls the idea that if a Nickelodeon star can get pregnant, it's cool. There have been reports of girls making pacts to all get pregnant at the same time, and unfortunately it is becoming a more and more common topic. So I don't think that I will have any problems regarding the currency in this topic.



There is an immense availability of information related to my topic of teenage pregnancy. I only skimmed much of the information that I looked at in the past week, but in that short amount of time, I saw many interesting things related to teenage pregnancy. I do not think i will run into any problems finding information online, in books, or in magazine articles about teenage pregnancy.



I believe that this topic will be ongoing for research. There is more and more information being published each day, so it will be able to keep me interested for months. I am very interested in this topic and think that it is a good candidate topic for a good I-Search paper.


This topic is very challenging in some ways, but in other ways it is very easy. I think that it will be very easy for me to find information, but I think that putting all of the information that I find, and organizing it all will be a little challenging for me.
